Surrounding Yourself With Good People

November 7, 2012

Mindset

We all lack at at being perfect, obviously. It is up to us to realize this – and improve.

One way I have found to be quite effective – is to start associating ourselves with those that are ‘better’ than us. People who have already ‘got it’, been there, and done that. These people have wisdom that we have not yet been able to acquire.

Sure, we can read books and learn from it that way – but I feel that the best results to gain this knowledge is to get in the trenches with the people you admire. Listen to them speak. Watch there mannerisms. Watch them take action. The first-hand approach is always the best (as opposed to reading a book).

Follow the people that you wish to become, surround yourself with those who are better than you, and you will slowly become them. As you know, or may not, you are the sum of the 5 people you spend most of your time with. To most of us, this is a scary thought. So get out there and start associating yourself with people who are better than you! You’ll be glad you did!

This is probably one of the most popular lessons we learn in the industry and yet so many completely overlook it. I think this may be because a LOT of will see people who are better than us at something and we put them on the pedestal and ourselves in the “pit”. In other words, we’re intimidated and think “what could they want with me?” etc…

What if the greater goal is to start looking at how we think about ourselves and begin lifting our own self-image up to the level that is in alignment with what we want??

Anyway, just my thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to make the vid and the post ;)
